Day +3: Dubrovnik
Monday, July 28, 2025
After breakfast meet with a local guide for a panoramic city tour.

First view the City Walls which are among the most iconic and well-preserved fortifications in the world. Dating back to the 10th century the walls played a crucial role in protecting the city from invaders. Encircling the old city, these walls stretch over a mile long and reach up to 82 feet. From the top admire breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and Dubrovnik's terracotta rooftops.

Fort Lovrijenac, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress, is a standalone fortress situated on a 121-foot high cliff outside Dubrovnik's western wall. Often referred to as "Dubrovnik's Gibraltar," this fort has been a symbol of resilience and freedom for centuries. Built in the early 11th century, Lovrijenac played a key defensive role particularly against Venetian attacks. Today it serves as a stunning vantage point for impressive 360º panoramic views.

Next see the Western Outer Wall, or Predzide, which is an extension of the main city walls designed to provide an additional layer of defense. This outer fortification is particularly significant for its strategic placement and the complex network of interconnected walls and towers that allowed defenders to repel attacks more effectively.

Dubrovnik's historic metallurgic casting exposition offers a unique glimpse into the city's industrial past. This exposition is dedicated to the art and science of metalworking, a craft that has been integral to Dubrovnik's economy and development since medieval times. Explore displays of ancient tools and finished products including weapons, coins and everyday items.

Continue to the Rector's Palace—a magnificent example of Gothic-Renaissance architecture—which was once the seat of the Rector, the highest authority of the Dubrovnik Republic. Built in the late 15th century the palace served as the administrative center and the Rector's residence. Its elegant façade, adorned with intricate stonework and arcades, reflects the city's wealth and artistic achievement. Step inside to view a series of beautifully preserved rooms including the Rector's office, courtroom and private chambers, each filled with period furniture, artworks and historical artifacts.

Conclude the day's guided touring at Dubrovnik's Franciscan Monastery, renowned for its architectural beauty and its historical significance. Founded in the early 14th century the monastery complex includes a stunning cloister, a church and one of the oldest functioning pharmacies in Europe, dating back to 1317. The monastery's museum showcases an impressive collection of religious artifacts, manuscripts and artwork including a valuable library with numerous incunabula (books printed using metal type up to the 1500s).

The remainder of the day is free to explore Dubrovnik at leisure.
Overnight: Grand Hotel Park (B)
