The Admiralty Dream: the perfect way to explore Alaska

Many travelers want to see the Inside Passage area of Alaska. Images of pristine wilderness, bountiful wildlife, and stunning natural beauty are universally appealing, plus the opportunity to meet friendly locals, discover charming frontier towns, and escape the hustle and bustle of the “lower 48,” even if just for a short while.

width=The ideal way to experience the Inside Passage is by ship—particularly a small ship like the Admiralty Dream, which is featured in Orbridge’s Discover Southeast Alaska travel program.

The Admiralty Dream is part of a small fleet of ships that cruises various waterways of Alaska as well as the Pacific Northwest. She holds a capacity of just 66 guests, which provides an intimate and convivial onboard atmosphere for travelers.

This nimble vessel is the perfect size to navigate secluded inlets, narrow channels, and sometimes challenging waterways that characterize this remote wilderness area—offering guests access to areas larger ships cannot go.

width=The Admiralty Dream was acquired by Alaska Dream Cruises in 2010 and went through a substantial renovation in 2015. Her four decks include 33 cabins, ranging in size and features, each with private en-suite bathrooms and comfortable berths.

Common areas include a charming dining room with large picture windows—so travelers can enjoy the scenery and potential wildlife sightings during mealtimes; a spacious lounge; and an outside sundeck for those stunningly beautiful sunny days.

Meals are lovingly prepared by onboard chefs in the small but highly-efficient galley, and feature local and seasonal dishes, fresh baked rolls and desserts, and cookies—creating mouthwatering aromas that waft through the ship in the afternoons. The variety and quality of the cuisine always amazes guests, who constantly praise the chefs and their skills.

The ship features an open bridge, so guests can stop in to chat with the captain, read the charts, or enjoy the spectacular birds-eye view of the surrounding area.

width=Easy-to-use kayaks and motorized skiffs are perfect for exploring the nearby areas—from glacier filled bays to small coves and inlets where wildlife roams and wilderness beauty surrounds.

Days onboard are relaxed, and schedules are flexible—as the captain aims to provide numerous opportunities for guests to explore onshore as well as get as close to active wildlife as possible—like a pod of whales bubble-net feeding, or bears strolling the shoreline.

Onboard naturalists are on hand throughout the day to ensure guests experience all this amazing area has to offer, both on the off the ship.

If wildlife and a true sense of Alaska is what you seek, then the Admiralty Dream on Orbridge's Discover Southeast Alaska program is for you.
