60 Seconds with Megan: Discover the Canadian Maritimes

Orbridge travel programs are carefully developed and executed by our skilled and passionate team who visits the locations and properties, and experiences each aspect of the programs. Their detailed reports offer valuable observations and highlights that may be useful for prospective travelers. The following is a 60-second interview we'd like to share.

60 SECONDS IN the Canadian Maritimes

What was your initial impression when arriving in Halifax?

Halifax is a sweet little capital; everything is within 15 minutes on foot. There is a lively restaurant scene, waterfront, museums, historical sites, so much to see and do.

What was your favorite highlight of the program?

Learning how to crack a lobster and eating the freshest lobster and scallops!

What do you think travelers will like the most?

The Anne of Green Gables Heritage House and Peggy’s Cove were sites I had heard of for so long and was thrilled to see in person. While I was soaking in Peggy’s Cove I had the thought that this little cove was the definition of “picturesque”!

What local person made the biggest impact on you?

We had a walking city tour in Lunenberg, a UNESCO World Heritage City, and the guide gave such an animated story on the history of the first settlers coming to Nova Scotia.

What surprised you the most about this program?

We went to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Cape Breton and I had no idea what an inventor he was, so much more than just the telephone. He said he chose Baddeck to live in because it is “like a sleepy Sunday morning every day of the week.”

Why should travelers get excited about this destination?

The Maritimes really have it all! The friendliest people, the freshest seafood, interesting history, sweet little towns, the highest tide differentials in the world, beautiful lighthouses, and whale watching. It’s the perfect combination of nature & history.
