Experience the Historic Lodges of the Old West

Some of the most picturesque and historic hotels in our country are located well outside the big cities.

Situated inside or near our National Parks, these notable properties tell the story of how early pleasure travel evolved in the U.S (and Canada) and how the railroad and early automobiles helped people explore their country, including its newly created national parks.

Orbridge’s program, National Parks and Lodges of the Old West, includes visits to and stays at some of these historic properties, which add a special element of exclusive access and historical luxury for all our guests.

Spearfish Canyon Lodge is our home while visiting Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills country of South Dakota. The area was a favorite of President Teddy Roosevelt, who made numerous hunting trips to the area in the 1880s.

Set among majestic pine trees and against the local limestone cliffs, this frontier-style lodge features large hewn-log walls and a lobby with soaring views and a 40-foot stone fireplace.

Décor in the guest rooms and public areas reflects a warm, rustic feel while providing modern amenities and features.

Surrounded by miles of trails for hiking in the summer and snowmobiling in winter, this year-round resort area begs to be explored.

Custer State Game Lodge, located in a mountain valley in Custer State Park, served as the “Summer White House” for President Calvin Coolidge, and was visited by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Built in 1920, this native stone and wood lodge sits in a beautiful mountain valley surrounded by pine, oak, birch, and aspen trees.

Recently renovated guest rooms combine period furnishings with modern updates and stunning nature views and wildlife that lives in harmony with visitors to the property.

Yellowstone National Park Lodges include the properties inside the park: Lake Yellowstone Hotel, Old Faithful Inn, Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, Canyon Lodge & Cabins, Grant Village, Lake Lodge Cabins, and Old Faithful Lodge.

While all are relaxed, updated properties with wonderful guest amenities, each has a feel and style all their own.

From the sleek white columns and traditional architecture of the Lake Yellowstone Hotel to the soaring timber log and stone of the Old Faithful Lodge, time at any of these accommodations will be a highlight of the program.
