Day 1: En Route from U.S. / Arrive in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
Bonjour, and welcome to beautiful Quebec City! This former capital of New France—and current capital of Canada's largest province—was originally founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain.

After transferring to the hotel, if time permits, stroll around the neighborhood and perhaps sample some French-inspired cuisine created by culinarians at a local café or bakery.

Tonight, become acquainted with fellow travelers and your Orbridge Expedition Leader during a welcome reception as you learn more about the activities planned for the week ahead.
Overnight: Fairmont Chateau Frontenac (R)

Day 2:  Quebec City / Tadoussac – Embarkation
After breakfast and a welcome briefing, set out on a panoramic tour of the Saint Lawrence coast en route to Tadoussac—the river's first seaport—to board the Ocean Endeavour—your seafaring home for the following 10 days and nights.

Settle in and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to explore this remarkable vessel. Step out onto one of the viewing decks to embrace the passing scenery or sip a beverage and join convivial conversation in the lounge.

Tonight partake in a special welcome dinner to celebrate the adventures to come.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 3: Saguenay Fjord National Park
Today's highlight features the natural beauty that is Saguenay Fjord. Marvel at the mouth of the fjord where saltwater meets freshwater—a uniquely rich ecosystem, which is home to a myriad of marine animals including fin, minke, blue, and beluga whales.

Be sure to have binoculars at the ready, as this national park is also a birder's paradise!
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 4: Saint Lawrence River
Relish a full day exploring the Saint Lawrence River, just like French navigator, Jacques Cartier, who is credited with discovering the river in 1534. Admire the colorful vistas and learn more about Reford Garden's rich history and vibrant culture from Parks Canada experts.

If weather permits, set off on a Zodiac expedition through the heart of the river to get up close and personal with Canada’s intriguing wildlife.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 5: Forillon National Park / Gaspé
The journey continues to Gaspé Peninsula, a narrow strip of tree covered cliffs—and the site of Forillon National Park—formed by remnants of the Appalachian Mountain chain. This important marine and mammal habitat provides 360-degree views of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and excellent hiking trails, and it's home to Canada’s tallest lighthouse.

Visit the Grand-Grave National Heritage Site to learn the history of the local fishing families who settled in Gaspé.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 6: Île Bonaventure National Park / Percé
After breakfast, board a Zodiac and venture into Île Bonaventure National Park to discover the park's most famous feature, Percé Rock—the world's largest over-water arch. This once double-arched mass, formed by reddish limestone and sandstone, now has only one—the second having collapsed in 1845.

Keep a keen eye out for fin, minke, humpback, and blue whales, which can all be found frolicking in the surrounding waters. Colonies of sea birds and herds of seals gather along the beaches, but most impressively, more than 50,000 nesting pairs of Northern Gannets take refuge here for breeding. This is truly a marine life sanctuary!
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Days 7-8: Gulf of Saint Lawrence
For the next two days, relax and savor life aboard the Ocean Endeavour while sailing through the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Learn about the importance of this waterway by stopping in on a lecture given by one of the many onboard experts. The convergence of the cold Labrador Current from the Arctic to the warm Gulf Stream from the tropics creates the perfect conditions for an incredible diversity of life.

Take advantage of an onboard complimentary professional photography class to ensure you capture the best pictures possible. With the surrounding abundance of marine life, make sure to have a camera ready when out on the viewing decks or exploring this sublime coastline by foot and by Zodiac.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 9: Prince Edward Island
Welcome to Prince Edward Island! Famous for being the setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables series, this island is also known for its beautiful landscapes and fruitful agricultural lands—often referred to as the Garden of the Gulf. Wonder at the lush rolling hills, wooded glades, ocean coves, sandy beaches, and famous red soil. Delight in the slow-paced, old-world charm of its rural settlements. Visit the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place to imagine life as it was in simpler times.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 10: Magdalen Islands, Quebec
Today is dedicated to the beautiful Magdalen Islands. When the British expelled the Acadians from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, the Magdalen Islanders remained. Acadian heritage is evident in the culture and cuisine of the islands.

Traverse the striking red sandstone cliffs while admiring the vast seascape and rolling green hills. Explore one of the local towns to discover handicrafts, seafood, and regional wines and beers, and become immersed in the heritage of Acadians—descendants of French colonists who settled in eastern parts of Quebec. Stroll local hiking trails or take a walk on one of the many sandy beaches.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 11: The South Coast / Newfoundland
Cruise through Newfoundland’s rugged south coast. Amidst the untouched scenic wilderness, relax on deck while watching for whales, puffins, and other seabirds. If adventure calls, Zodiac cruises are available to journey ashore for hiking or getting a closer look at the glorious fjords, cliffs, and islands.
Overnight: Ocean Endeavour (B,L,D)

Day 12: Saint-Pierre and Miquelon / Flight to St. John’s
Today, stop at Saint-Pierre and Miquelon for a special visit to an official territory of the French Republic. These islands will dazzle with their abundance of French charm, language, and culture. Explore the colorful town of Saint-Pierre, then board a charter flight to St. John’s, Newfoundland for a final evening on land. Enjoy time to stroll around town and visit one of the fabulous restaurants for a leisurely dinner.
Overnight: Delta Hotels St. John's (B,L)

Day 13: St. John’s / Depart for U.S.
After breakfast, bid au revoir to this wonderful area. Guests departing during the suggested times take a complimentary transfer to the airport to begin the journey home. (B)

Activity Level:

Moderate

This program offers a variety of activities including Zodiac excursions. We expect that guests be sure-footed on stairs and ramps, and be comfortable managing landings on various terrain and boarding small vessels—both from shore and the ship's deck. Ship staff will assist guests during each landing. Off the ship, a fair amount of walking on varying terrain is to be expected. It is our expectation that guests on this program are able to walk a mile on uneven and slippery terrain at a moderate pace, get in and out of a motor coach, and walk up a flight of stairs without assistance.
