After settling into your luxurious accommodations, gather with fellow travelers for a warm welcome, then delight in a special three-course fondue dinner highlighted by a presentation from a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer in the iconic uniform.

Alternatively, the Fairmont's health club facilities are equipped with a whirlpool, eucalyptus steam room, and modern fitness center.

After lunch on your own, join the included snowshoe excursion/nature walk (weather dependent)—an easy-to-intermediate outing at a pace comfortable for all ages. Your experienced Heritage Guide will lead you around Lake Louise to spot for wildlife that have adapted to the north's wintry conditions.

Return to the hotel to warm up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate prior to heading into the village to explore the shops before settling in for the evening.

Day 3: Lake Louise / Banff National Park / Lake Louise
Today's adventure includes a drive to Banff National Park for a scenic gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain, where you'll have a breathtaking, panoramic view of six magnificent mountain ranges. During free time at the top, visit the interactive interpretive center, stroll the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk, or grab a snack at one of the restaurants before boarding a gondola to return to the base of the mountain.

Before departing the park, visit Cave and Basin, a national historic site—and the birthplace of Canada's national parks program—for a guided tour. Learn how the cave of hot mineral springs were discovered in 1883, and how the Government of Canada was determined to protect and expand the site's boundaries, which now encompasses the entire 2,564 square miles of Banff National Park.

Venture into downtown Banff for lunch on your own and time to wander the bustling streets and boutique shops that make Banff anything but ordinary. Afterward, reconvene with your travel companions for a short ride to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, where you'll experience a guided tour of the property followed by a private wine tasting.

Enjoy dinner tonight on your own at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

You will also have an opportunity to join an optional dog sled excursion (additional fee). During this 90-minute tour, you will be pulled by a professional team of sled dogs—the traditional mode of Canadian winter travel—led by a veteran guide from Banff National Park into Yoho National Park through the Kicking Horse Pass at the Continental Divide. Make sure to bundle up and bring a camera, as there will be unlimited scenic photo opportunities during this exciting adventure. As a special treat, guests can try mushing the dogs during the return journey.

Activity Level:

Easy

Many of the program’s activities will take place outdoors, and a fair amount of walking on varying terrain is to be expected. It is our expectation that guests on this program are able to get in and out of a motorcoach without assistance and be sure-footed on frozen or ice-covered terrain.
