Explore Antarctica: the adventure of a lifetime

Antarctica… the white continent.

It’s a journey many travelers dream of experiencing at least once—the opportunity to see the last true frontier on earth—to sail among the glaciers, embrace the stark arctic beauty, and even walk among the penguins.

Orbridge is excited to add this memorable destination to its catalog of travel programs, and we invite you to join us on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Sail aboard the beautiful Ocean Adventurer—the perfect vessel for this journey, combining classic yet modern accommodations with knowledgeable and friendly crew who can’t wait to introduce you to the pristine vastness of this rugged and remote landscape.

The Ocean Advenurer’s nimble size and limited guest capacity ensures the chance to explore the area fully and make multiple shore landings almost daily (weather permitting) as opposed to fewer opportunities afforded to larger ships.

Recently updated staterooms and public spaces provide all the amenities to ensure both your safety and stylish comfort, and provide a delightful and cozy retreat after returning from excursions or on-shore explorations.

The ship features an open bridge—encouraging guests to chat with the Captain about his experiences in Antarctica, track the ship’s sailing path on charts, and learn how this capable vessel with her ice-hardened hull and fin stabilizers navigates the challenging southern waters with ease.

Onboard lecturers and staff will help you understand the history and dynamics of this truly unique ecosystem, so your daily awe-inspiring activities are filled with insight and understanding.

The wildlife here is dazzling in its variety and behaviors—from whales, dolphins, seals, and penguins who populate the waters and ice packs, to the extraordinary array of seagoing birds which can be observed both at sea and on land.

A typical day could include a close encounter at a penguin rookery and a walk among thousands of gentoo, chinstrap, or king penguins. Or perhaps you’ll visit an abandoned explorer outpost from last century, then venture out among the glaciers on an optional kayaking adventure. The chances to explore this remote wonderland are varied and suited for every level of activity.

The extensive modern technology, a flexible itinerary and a crew of seasoned polar mariners, expert scientists, wildlife experts and enthusiastic adventurers, all combine to provide the perfect conditions for a spectacular voyage.

Polar exploration might seem like a daunting decision, but with this wonderful ship, fabulous crew, and our friendly and capable Orbridge team, we will assist you every step of the way, ensuring you have the journey of a lifetime.

One of our intrepid staff members, Megan, just returned from the Astounding Antarctica program. Below is a 60-second interview with her regarding her experience.

What was your initial impression when arriving in Ushuaia, Argentina?
Flying over Patagonia was breathtaking, and upon landing we transferred to the hotel. The hotel had sweeping views over the Beagle Channel and I took several moments just taking in the view and thinking about how it felt to be at the "end of the world"!

What was your favorite highlight of the program?
My favorite highlight was our close encounter with humpback whales from aboard the zodiac. We were about 5 feet away and I could hear their whale song. The whole group just sat in silence and watched these beautiful creatures who were curious about us too.

What do you think travelers will like the most?
The penguins come right up to you and are really fun to watch waddling around. We had so many shore landings and got a lot of time hiking around the rookeries.

What local person made the biggest impact on you?
The ship's Expedition Leader was everything you could hope for and more. Each morning his voice would come over the intercom saying softly, "Good morning, the temperature is... And our location is..." It was a fun way to start the day and hear about the adventures that were lined up. It felt like a true expedition!

What surprised you the most about this program?
That I did the polar plunge! I was overcome with excitement to be there and threw myself in to the freezing Antarctic waters to cheers of onlookers. It was too cold to even scream!

Why should travelers get excited about this destination?
Antarctica is different than any place on the planet. The Last Continent leaves an impact on you that will stay with you the rest of your life.
